57th Annual Hassanamesit Indian Fair

The Fair (or Powwow as some call it) was held on the last Sunday of July on the reservation.  Our Fair tends to be small and casual, no paid Head Dancers, no prize money for best dancers – just family, friends, and some tourists. Cheryll Toney Holley, proprietor of PastTense Historic Research, is a professional researcher and writer specializing in African-American and Native American peoples in New England. For more than 20 years, she has compiled genealogies and written family histories for descendants of New England's communities of color.  A trained historian, she also directs the Hassanamisco Indian Museum located in Grafton, Massachusetts.
